Fearless was the tone as screaming and ecstatic fans packed Quicken Loans Arena Saturday, Oct. 3 for Taylor Swift’s 2009 North American Fearless Tour.
Tickets were sold out with Gloriana and Kelli Pickler opening the concert for Taylor Swift. Gloriana, an unconventional and fresh four-membered band, ignited the fire with “Wild at Heart.”
Kelli Pickler, an American Idol finalist and one of Swift’s best friends, opened Swift’s highly anticipated concert with her hit “Best Days of Your Life,” which she co-wrote with Swift.
As fans waited in anticipation for the 19-year-old country music star to appear on stage, Swift composed a video on the meaning of “Fearless,” a word she focused strongly on during her performance. Swift then elevated out of the stage and opened to shattering applause with “You Belong with Me.” Cleveland was on their feet as Swift flared her marching band wardrobe and cheerleader uniforms.
Swift personally designed her performance from theatrics and visual effects to music and choreography. Although her songs about relationships and revenge were geared towards girls who have been hurt in a relationship, she still captivated the entire audience. Swift takes real guys names that she has actually dated and drops them in her songs.
Leaving her fans with the quote, “If guys don’t want me to write songs about them, then they shouldn’t do bad things,” she performed her hit “Hey Steven,” and afterwards, sought out applause from Cleveland for an intensely long period.
Although the performance seemed more like a drama show for entertainment as opposed to a concert, Swift still hit it off strong in Cleveland and gained the approval of every true Taylor Swift fan. ****
