The boys basketball cagers tipped off the season Tuesday night with a 77-38 league win over Padua Franciscan.

Senior A.J. Pero led the team with 18 points, 15 of those coming from behind the arc. Other than Pero, the majority of the scoring came from a strong underclassmen effort.

Junior Evan Pannel ended the evening with 10 points and two steals. Latroy Lewis, Evan Luse, Greg McMullen and Mike Reaves each contributed six points.

McMullen did not start the game due to his minor wrist injury and lack of pre-season reps.

Filling the scoring void was junior Lucas Sokol, who scrapped his way to an impressive double double.

Tommorow at the Castle, the boys will brawl with crosstown rival St. Vincent-St. Mary- currently ranked first in the state Division II Yappi poll.
