The years of hiring dog sitters and worrying if Spot is okay have finally come to an end. Pet Airways, the first air transportation system for pets, has finally come to the rescue.
Pet Airways has hubs in nine airports that form a travel line across the country from California to New York to Florida. Round trip fees from some of the closer airports cost a reasonable $100 – $150 and include all the luxury services that man’s best friend needs.
Pets are dropped off at the airport two hours before the flight departs. During this time, all of the animals are organized and receive potty breaks. Then, each pet is carefully placed in carriers and the flight departs. While up in the air, the “pawsengers” are treated as first class and are monitored every 15 minutes. When the flight lands, the pets again use the bathroom and are then available for pickup.
“I think this is a great idea because it is more convenient then leaving my dogs at home and hiring a sitter,” junior Alexa Bachman said.
Pet Airways is the latest craze for pets, following in the paw prints of accessories like clothes, jackets and even Snuggies for animals.
“Pet Airways sounds too expensive and over the top for just a pet,” sophomore Ryan Will said.
Pets have quickly become a big business in the United States and Pet Airways is the latest “necessity” for any furry friend.
