Hoban will continue the tradition of Rent-a-Junior this year holding it Feb. 4. Rent-a-Junior is not only an enjoyable event, but also a helping hand for two causes.

The main purpose of Rent-a-Junior is to raise money for the junior classes prom and to also raise money for Haiti. Members of the junior class with the help of a select few teachers raise the money and seniors who perform skits, dances, songs, talents and any other on staged activity.

If you can dream it, you will see it done at Rent-a-Junior. After each group has preformed, an auction is held to rent the group members for the next day. The money is due at the time of purchase so bidders must bring extra money to Rent-a-Junior.

If students would like to rent a junior but don’t want to spend a lot, a past tactic used is to pull money between friends and buy a group together and then share them throughout the day.

Renting a junior involves renting a junior for the day. This means they must obey their buyer. For example, if a renter wants their junior to dance, they must dance or if a renter wants them to sing the next words out of their mouth will be a lyrical of sweet nothings coming at you. The juniors can even bring breakfast to the renter. The buyers wish is their command.

Freshmen have only myths about rent-a-junior.

“I think you have to pay some money to have a junior for the whole day,” freshmen Cody Hargett said and some new students are just left in the dark to what Rent-a-Junior is.

“I have no idea,” freshmen Richie Ashley said.

While seniors our excited to see what their younger classmates can come up with.

“It gives the juniors a chance to show their stuff” senior John Sanchez said.

Hate it or love it Rent-a-junior will come this year, and no matter what the opinion it is sure to raise money not only for the Hoban community but the entire community of Akron.
