Extravaganza a roaring success

Flapper girls, cigars and speak easies hardly describe the average Catholic school fundraiser. Then again, there has never been anything average about Hoban’s Extravaganza.

The annual event reached its 25th anniversary this year with years of consistent success to build on. This years ever-changing theme was the Roaring Twenties and the decor consisted of elegant black tablecloths and chairs, flapper girl centerpieces and a hand painted, jazz ensemble that encompassed the guest tables. The dim-lit Barry gymnasium gave off a 1920’s nightclub vibe that paralleled the excitement of the night.

“Everyone seemed to have a great time and it was overall a wonderful success,” Manager of Data Base and Gift Entry Diane Hankins said.

The professional catering was headed by Robert J Events Planning for the third consecutive year and volunteers ranged from about 80 adults and 65 students.

The silent auction featured items such as Notre Dame and Browns tickets, a home theater system, a cruise, blimp ride and much more.
Extravaganza is not just a gathering of the who’s who of the Hoban community, but a fundraiser that the school relies on each year.
