Wednesday morning three candidates and their vice-president’s took the stage in a last attempt to sway the student body before the general election. Each ticket had individual views and let the student body know through several unique tactics.

Junior Jenna Decker and her vice president junior Evan Luse kicked off the speeches with concise points, frequent passing of the microphone and a repetitive phrase that everyone knew by the end of the speech. That phrase was “it’s the way.” One “way” that they plan to install is a variety of intramural sports throughout the school year.

“The way has to be something more than just words or traditions or following the norms that have been laid down before us. It’s the experience. It’s ‘the way,’” Luse said.

Next at the podium were juniors Colleen Arman and Sammi Heil, but not before a classmate LaRia Ruiz performed a personalized Black Eyed Peas remix using their names. Arman and Heil cleverly got the student body to stand up, forcing their attention. Their coined motto was “Pounding the Pavement.” They plan to transform Banglabash into a prime annual event at Hoban.

The final speech was from Shamir Brice and vice president Marissa Conti. Their reoccurring saying was “Rendezvous with Destiny.” They staked a claim to fresh leadership and different faces.

However, destiny fell in favor of Decker and Luse as they won the majority of votes, claiming their positions as Class President and Vice President. For more information about Decker and Luse’s plans for next year see the upcoming Visor issue on May 6.
