With one of the greatest night in a girl’s life right around the corner, the boys are stepping up.

Senior Lawrence Wynn & senior Meghan Kean
“He came into math class and asked everyone if he could have their attention. He came back with roses and balloons and asked me to prom,” Kean said. “I didn’t know whether to scream or cry or what.”

Senior Joe Easton & senior Jen Kalbus
Easton covered his girlfriend’s car in post-it notes. He asked her to Prom with the notes on the front and back reading “I like you” surrounding an “I love you” in the middle.

“At first, I was annoyed because I didn’t know why my car was covered in post it notes, but then I was so excited and touched by his creativity,” Kalbus said. “It took him an hour and fifteen minutes to do it and Neo, the security guard, helped.”

Senior Tim Beech & senior Olivia Smith“Olivia loves Chinese food, so I went to RSVP and got a little Chinese take-out box and ordered fortune cookies online,” Beech said. “They printed ‘Olivia, Will you go to Prom with me? -Tim.’ on them so instead of it having a fortune on it, it just had the question. The fortune cookie was packaged so she had no idea what it really was.”

Senior Jake Dawes & senior Hannah Karg“When Jake and I got to his house there was a single candle in his drive way and I was so confused,” Karg said. “Then he told me to follow the candles and he had lit a whole path of candles that led to his backyard and went up onto his porch. There were roses on the porch over looking his back yard and he spelled out prom in 100 candles.”

Senior David Stavarz & senior Julie Kohut
Stavarz took advantage of the perks of Yearbook class to ask Kohut. He arranged for her to be sent on an assignment. While she was working, he left a single rose on her keyboard and a message on her computer screen asking her to prom.

“I had no idea what his plan was and I was so surprised,” Kohut said. “I didn’t even notice the rose until my classmates started giggling.”

Senior Jake Frego & junior Jessica Walpole“When I came home from spring break, there was a package sitting on my bed. There was no name on the package but fragile and handle with care were written all over it. So, naturally, I picked up the box and shook it! It didn’t feel like there was anything in the box so I really didn’t know what to think,” Walpole said.

“I opened the box and there was a bouquet of origami flowers. On each flower there was a different word. After I put them in the correct order I realized that I had, “Will you go to prom with…” and that was all,” Walpole said.

Frego got the idea of making origami flowers from a bake sale experience with senior Geno Catalano in the fall. When school resumed he had a call slip sent to Walpole telling her to report to Brother Spooner’s office immediately. When she walked into the office Frego was sitting in Spooner’s office, waiting.

“I was pretty nervous when I walked in and saw the chair backwards just like the movies. Jake spun around with the “me?” flower and said, ‘Jess, will you go to prom with me?’ Walpole said. ““The first thing that came out of my mouth was, ‘I hate you.’ But this was the cutest way I could have gotten asked to prom!”
