Hot shooting was the formula to the Knights 70-53 win over Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin on Tuesday night at Barry Gymnasium. Senior co-captain AJ Pero buried five three-pointers and led the team with 20 points and three rebounds.

“It felt good to play in front of a great home crowd and get a big league win,” Pero said.

Junior Evan Pannell added in an additional 14 points on six for 11 shooting from the field. Sophomore Greg McMullen led the rebounding war with nine boards. The NDCL win gave the boys their sixth NCL win and served as a needed bandage for the tough 71-66 loss to Walsh Jesuit the preceding Friday.

“Defensive intensity and rebounding looked better tonight,” head coach T.K. Griffith said. “Weaknesses were exposed at Walsh that we must address the rest of the season to accomplish our goals.”

Regardless, the 7-4 squad is happy to add another win to their record. A 7-4 record takes the boys one step closer to a winning season, something the Knights have achieved 14 of the last 15 years. Tomorrow night at 7:30 P.M. the Knights defend the Castle against Trinity High School, also of the North Coast League. Trinity had an impressive upset wins over Holy Name, Parma and Normandy earlier this season.
